Whilst it is not necessary to understand this, it does give an insight into the technology
and the depth of information used by PilotAware.

Colour;

PilotAware will highlight traffic within the table that could pose a threat.
This threat level is defined from the Configuration page field 'Select Audio Warning Zones'. This can be adjusted manually within the Configuration page.

🟢 = Alert

🟡 = Warning

🔴 = Danger

Greying Out

Note, lines will be grey’d out if the aircraft detected are outside the range of the user defined filters or their age is older than the system's pre-defined limits. Grey’d outlines are an indication that they have been received but are not being used for visual or voice alerts or passing data to 3rd party equipment.

Column 1 Hex;

This shows the unique ICAO code that is being transmitted or the code assigned by a PilotAware Unit or FLARM unit. We encourage ALL EC users to transmit the correct ICAO code to identify your aircraft and avoid false alerts.

Column 2 Registration;

This is the Tail Registration (or ground station) for the assigned Hex Code.

Column 3 Modes CSAPFMUG;

This column shows the detected transmission using the following codes.

  • C – Mode-C bearing-less target direct reception
  • CS – Mode-S bearing less-target direct reception
  • CSA – ADS-B / Extended Squitter.
  • P – PilotAware.
  • F – Flarm (direct) Reception.
  • M – MLAT (via Uplink).
  • U – Data from Uplink.
  • G - Traffic received through iGRID.

Any target received could involve multiple transmission modes.

The latest time stamped data is used.

Column 4 SQ;

This column shows the Squawk code (Mode-A), and equivalent Mode-C Altitude image code
if appropriate.

Column 5 D(KM);

Distance from the host aircraft position. Only applicable to aircraft transmitting a location
such PilotAware, FLARM, ADSB and Mode-S/3D.

Column 6 A(ft);

Relative height difference in feet, of the target from the host position. A direct Mode-S
reception is required for this to be added to the MLAT data provided.

Column 7 BR;

Target bearing direction from the host position. Only applicable aircraft transmitting a GPS
a signal such PilotAware, FLARM, ADSB and Mode-S targets provided with MLAT data.

Column 8 SIG;

The signal strength of received 1090MHz Targets (ADSB Mode-C and Mode-S)

Column 9 AGE;

Age of last received data from the target in seconds.

Column 10 ADSB Status In following order;

Version, NACp, SDA, NICa, SIL, SILs.

Column 11 Aircraft Owner;

Information regarding registered aircraft owners.
